Trinidad and Tobago together make one state, but the two
islands actually bear no comparison with each other. Trinidad
is big and lively and Tobago is small and sleepy.

The
Carnival is famous for its colorful parades and the atmos-
phere at this time is unique. Apart from that Trinidad has much
more to offer. The population is a mixture of South Americans,
Africans, Indians, Chinese and Europeans. The tourism is con-
centrated to the northern coast an nature reserves. The in-
terior forms a thick tropical forest and its flora and fauna
seems to be endless. The capital is Port-of-Spain, and with a
population of over 500,000, the biggest city of the small An-
tilles. At the center of the city lies the Woodford Square which
is popular as shopping area. You should visit the Red House
now the seat of parliament and the lovely Savannah Park. Near-
by lies numerous sport complexes and even a race course.

The island Tobago, situated in the north-east off the coast of
Trinidad, is a small and relaxed island. You will find breath-
taking beaches and friendly locals. Scarborough is the capi-
tal of Tobago, a rather sleepy town with a population of only
20,000. The Pigeon Point is one of the most known beaches
in the Caribbean and is great for sunbathing. The beach is pri-
vate and you will be asked to pay a little amount for entry. In
the north of Pigeon Point lies the Buccoo Reef, an ideal snor-
keling reef.

A perfect vacation would be to stay at least one week on Toba-
go for sunbathing and at least 10 days to explore Trinidads he-
ritage and the tropical rain forest!
