The Grenadines are consist of 8 main islands and around 120
smaller islands. They are the most popular sailing destination
in the Caribbean and a synonym for perfect relaxing vacations.
The Grenadines belong to St. Vincent and Grenada.
The main islands includes the beautiful island Bequia, the
"jetset island" Mustique and the lovely island Carriacou. It is
easy to reach Bequia from St. Vincent and the island is right
to ones expectations. In this fairly hilly island you will find
small cottages, great beaches, good restaurants and hotels.
Usually the hotels have less than 20 rooms and are family run.
Among the most splendid beaches are the Friendship Bay
and the beautiful Admirality Bay. On most you will find beach
bars and restaurants. Apart from St. Barth the island Mustique
is also considered as "jetset island" of the Caribbean. Interna-
tional VIP´s have their villas here and the entire island belongs
to the Mustique Company. There are only two deluxe hotels.
You should have a certain amount of money if you like to plan
some weeks or days to stay. Also Carriacou is a wonderful is-
land with only 6,000 locals and you will find white sand bea-
ches and colorful cottages which are built on the hills. The is-
land is famous for its boat builders. In August a regatta takes
place and sailing boats from all over the world arrive.
Other popular islands are Canouan, Union Island, Mayreau,
Petit Martinique and the lovely Tobago Cays.
